A Twitch chat log is the written record of everything viewers said during a stream. Twitch stores that chat replay alongside every VOD, but offers no export button. vodfetch reads the replay in your browser and saves it as a clean .txt file — [HH:MM:SS] username: message — which is perfect for finding the moment a clip happened, reviewing moderation decisions, doing research, or archiving a community's reactions before the VOD expires. It is an honest per-VOD chat export: it does not track users across channels, and it cannot show logs of streams whose VODs no longer exist.

Frequently asked questions

How do I download the chat log of a Twitch VOD?

Paste the VOD's URL (twitch.tv/videos/…) into the tool above, click Analyze, then open Options and click the Chat (.txt) button. The whole chat replay saves as a plain-text file with timestamps.

Can I see a user's Twitch chat history across channels?

No. Twitch does not expose per-user chat history, and vodfetch does not log anyone. Third-party 'user log' sites only show channels their bots happened to record. vodfetch exports the official chat replay of a specific VOD instead — every message from that broadcast.

What format is the chat log?

A plain .txt file, one line per message: [HH:MM:SS] username: message. It opens in any editor and is easy to search, diff or import into a spreadsheet.

Does it work for live streams?

The export reads the chat replay attached to a VOD, so it works on past broadcasts and highlights. For a live stream, wait until the broadcast ends and its VOD appears on the channel, then export the chat.

Can I get the chat log of a deleted VOD?

No — when Twitch deletes a VOD (after 7–60 days, depending on the channel), its chat replay disappears with it. If you want the log, export it before the VOD expires.
